<p align="left">From the Powell Lions Club 4th of July Parade and picnic, Past District Governors Kaye Forester and Clare Crawford took me to Norris, Tennessee to visit the 41st annual Norris Day Celebration sponsored by the Norris Lions Club.</p>
<p align="left">Hop over to <a href="http://norrislionsclub.com/" target="_blank">visit the Norris Lions Club web site</a>!</p>
<p align="left">The Norris Lions were all over the park, and they were easy to spot in their Lions shirts with &#8220;Ask Me&#8221; on the back. What a cool idea!</p>
<p align="left">I met Past District Governor Dean Harshbarger and his wife, Lion Nellie. </p>
<p align="left">I didn&#8217;t get to see many of the Lions who were working up in the dining area selling barbeque, but I did meet some who were working the grill.</p>
<div id="attachment_190" class="wp-caption alignright" style="width: 160px"><img src="http://lion-paws.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/2009-07-04-norris-play08-150x150.jpg" alt="Tough Guys!" title="Tough Guys!" width="150" height="150" class="size-thumbnail wp-image-190" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Tough Guys!</p></div>
<p align="left">I didn&#8217;t have room for all their photos here, so go to the <a href="http://lion-paws.com/wordpress/photos-videos/2009-07-04-norris-day/">photo album from the Norris Day activities</a> or enjoy the slide show of all the photos at the bottom of this post.</p>
<p align="left">I also saw more Anderson County High School Leos. . . a few familiar faces from the Day with the Lions, plus some!</p>
<p align="left">They were having a great time with duck races, and hopefully raising a few bucks in the process.</p>
<p align="left">I missed the children&#8217;s bicycle parade, but saw several bikes that were all decked out with red, white and blue patriotic creativity.</p>
<div id="attachment_187" class="wp-caption alignright" style="width: 160px"><img src="http://lion-paws.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/2009-07-04-norris-achsleos-duckrace1-150x150.jpg" alt="Anderson Co. H.S. Leo sponsored duck race" title="Anderson Co. H.S. Leo sponsored duck race" width="150" height="150" class="size-thumbnail wp-image-187" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Anderson Co. H.S. Leo sponsored duck race</p></div>
<p align="left">I stopped by the Volunteer Fire Department&#8217;s dunking booth and gave that a shot.</p>
<p align="left">The fella in the booth didn&#8217;t have much to worry about, because I was throwing with mitten paws and couldn&#8217;t see where the ball went after throwing!</p>
<p align="left">Everyone was having a great time during the festivities, but if I go to too many more events with the hot air/bounce games for youngsters, I&#8217;m gonna be tempted to jump in!</p>
<p align="left">I couldn&#8217;t quite fit my head in one of them here, but it sure looked fun!</p>
<div id="attachment_188" class="wp-caption alignright" style="width: 310px"><img src="http://lion-paws.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/2009-07-04-norris-dunkingbooth-300x189.jpg" alt="Taking a Shot at the Volunteer Fire Dept. Dunking Booth" width="300" height="189" class="size-medium wp-image-188" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Taking a Shot at the Volunteer Fire Dept. Dunking Booth</p></div>
<p align="left">I just don&#8217;t remember having those when I was a cub <img src='http://lion-paws.com/wordpress/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':-)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<div id="attachment_191" class="wp-caption alignright" style="width: 195px"><img src="http://lion-paws.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/2009-07-04-norris-johnzyepope-185x300.jpg" alt="Lion Paws with John Zye Pope" title="Lion Paws with John Zye Pope" width="185" height="300" class="size-medium wp-image-191" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Lion Paws with John Zye Pope</p></div>
<p align="left">I continue to meet a lot of nice people of ALL ages.</p>
<p align="left">Thanks to Klent Pope for sending me the photo with his son, John Zye.</p>
<p align="left">Some of the middle school and high school students wanted pictures with me on their cell phones, while the little ones thought I was just an over-sized stuffed animal!</p>
<div id="attachment_193" class="wp-caption alignright" style="width: 160px"><img src="http://lion-paws.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/2009-07-04-norris-play04-150x150.jpg" alt="A Big Stuffed Animal!" title="A Big Stuffed Animal!" width="150" height="150" class="size-thumbnail wp-image-193" /><p class="wp-caption-text">A Big Stuffed Animal!</p></div>
<p align="left">I wish I could have stuck around for the evening program and fireworks. But, it was a long, hot day for this Lion.</p>
<p align="left">Now I know why Lions in the zoo are less active and sleep all day! </p>
<p align="left">Congratulations, Norris Lions Club on a wonderful community event!</p>

<p align ="left">The Day with the Lions and Walk for Sight event is a major fundraiser the the Lions of East Tennessee. From what I&#8217;ve learned, all the Lions clubs in our district support nine agencies. </p>
<p align="left">Visit the <a href="http://www.discoveret.org/lions12n/12n_actv.htm">Lions District 12-N</a> web site to learn more about the agencies who benefitted from the funds raised.</p>
<div id="attachment_92" class="wp-caption alignright" style="width: 303px"><img src="http://lion-paws.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/2009-06-20-dwtl-walk3-293x300.jpg" alt="Start of Walk for Sight" title="Start of Walk for Sight" width="293" height="300" class="size-medium wp-image-92" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Start of Walk for Sight</p></div>
<p align = "left">I have so many terrific pictures from the Day with the Lions, it was difficult to select just a few to share with you here. Please check out my <a href="http://lion-paws.com/wordpress/photos-videos/2009-06-20-day-with-the-lions/">photo album</a>.</p>
<p align = "left">The Walk for Sight began shortly after 10:00 a.m., and I had the privilege of being right at the front with two other mascots: Chilly from the Knoxville Ice Bears and Andy the Armadillo from Texas Roadhouse. We weren&#8217;t the fastest walkers, and occasionally got side-tracked to visit with people but it was a neat way to kick off the important Walk for Sight!</p>
<div id="attachment_98" class="wp-caption alignright" style="width: 160px"><img src="http://lion-paws.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/2009-06-20-dwtl-children08-150x150.jpg" alt="Visiting with Children During the Walk for Sight" title="Visiting with Children During the Walk for Sight" width="150" height="150" class="size-thumbnail wp-image-98" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Visiting with Children During the Walk for Sight</p></div>
<p align="left">Let&#8217;s see, some other fun things that happened (check out the albums for photos of these):</p>
<p align = "left">* Met several Fountain City Lions members who helped with the Car Show and booth for refreshments</p>
<p align = "left">* Met several Halls Lions members who had a craft booth and a face painting booth, and the soon-to-be &#8220;first couple&#8221; of District 12-N (DG-Elect Steve Lewis and Lion Sylvia)</p>
<p align = "left">* Met several Future Leader Dogs and two Search &#038; Rescue dogs</p>
<div id="attachment_95" class="wp-caption alignright" style="width: 160px"><img src="http://lion-paws.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/2009-06-20-dwtl-hallslions-150x150.jpg" alt="Lion Paws with Halls Lions Doing Face Painting" title="Lion Paws with Halls Lions Doing Face Painting" width="150" height="150" class="size-thumbnail wp-image-95" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Lion Paws with Halls Lions Doing Face Painting</p></div>
<p align = "left">* Met the University of Tennessee Volunteers &#8220;real&#8221; mascot, Smoky the Blue Tick Hound</p>
<p align = "left">* Met the Tennessee Smokies mascots, Slugger and Diamond</p>
<p align = "left">* Participated in the Cake Walk &#8211; and just missed winning some goodies by ONE seat!</p>
<p align = "left">* Tried to have my eye examined at the booth by the Tellico Village Lions</p>
<p align = "left">* Played a piano &#8211; not that well, mind you, but played nonetheless!</p>
<div id="attachment_94" class="wp-caption alignright" style="width: 160px"><img src="http://lion-paws.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/2009-06-20-dwtl-searchdogs5-150x150.jpg" alt="Lion Paws with Search &amp; Rescue Dogs Shatzie and Apache at the Leader Dogs for the Blind Display" title="Lion Paws with Search &amp; Rescue Dogs Shatzie and Apache at the Leader Dogs for the Blind Display" width="150" height="150" class="size-thumbnail wp-image-94" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Lion Paws with Search &#038; Rescue Dogs Shatzie and Apache at the Leader Dogs for the Blind Display</p></div>
<p align = "left">* Met the Anderson County High School Leos and Advisor who volunteered to help with the Cake Walk</p>
<p align = "left">* Made an attempt to accessorize my gold Lions Vest. . . with a pink purse?</p>
<p align = "left">* Passed out awards to the winning Car Show entries</p>
<p align="left">* I was even a little ornery in attempting to sneak a snack from someone&#8217;s cooler, but was busted by a photographer!</p>
<p align = "left">As you can see, it was a busy, fun-filled day! </p>
<p align = "left">Thank you to PDG&#8217;s Wendy Cain and Kaye Forester for walking with me, keeping me hydrated, and taking pictures. </p>
<div id="attachment_110" class="wp-caption alignright" style="width: 160px"><img src="http://lion-paws.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/2009-06-20-dwtl-sneakasnack-150x150.jpg" alt="Lion Paws Sneaking a Snack" title="Lion Paws Sneaking a Snack" width="150" height="150" class="size-thumbnail wp-image-110" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Lion Paws Sneaking a Snack</p></div>
<p align = "left">Also special thanks to other photographers who have forwarded their pictures for my albums!</p>
<p align = "left">Here&#8217;s the link again to the <a href="http://lion-paws.com/wordpress/photos-videos/2009-06-20-day-with-the-lions/">photo album</a>. I hope you enjoy them!</p>
