<p align="left">The day began with the Powell 4th of July parade, sponsored by the Powell Lions Club.</p>
<p align="left">I met several new Lions friends at the sign-in booth. . . they also had shade &#8211; which was in limited supply in the parking lot staging area!</p>
<p align="left">The Powell Lions were so busy working the parade, they didn&#8217;t have a float/entry, however, they lined me up toward the front of the parade to represent the Lions.</p>
<div id="attachment_145" class="wp-caption alignright" style="width: 310px"><img class="size-medium wp-image-145" title="Getting Ready to Begin the Parade" src="http://lion-paws.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/2009-07-04-powell-paradecar-300x150.jpg" alt="Getting Ready to Begin the Parade" width="300" height="150" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Getting Ready to Begin the Parade</p></div>
<p align="left">A BIG &#8220;THANK YOU&#8221; to Mary Lou Crail for letting us borrow her red convertible, and to PDGs Dave and Clare Crawford, for chauffeuring and making sure I had plenty of cool drinks!</p>
<p align="left">Before the parade, I met several other people who were also lining up to participate &#8211; several community leaders and groups, a kangaroo, a not-so-friendly dog, and &#8220;Deputy Beaver&#8221;. </p>
<div id="attachment_146" class="wp-caption alignright" style="width: 160px"><img src="http://lion-paws.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/2009-07-04-powell-deputy-ticket-150x150.jpg" alt="A Ticket for 'Having Too Much Fun'?!?" title="A Ticket for 'Having Too Much Fun'?!?" width="150" height="150" class="size-thumbnail wp-image-146" /><p class="wp-caption-text">A Ticket for 'Having Too Much Fun'?!?</p></div>
<p align="left">He actually wrote me a ticket for having too much fun! Can you believe it? I was definitely guilty as charged!</p>
<p align="left">If I wasn&#8217;t so positive that it is GREAT to be a Lion, I might start having an identity crisis.</p>
<p align="left">Along the parade, I had children call me a Lion, a Tiger (again), and a Bear (really, a bear?). </p>
<p align="left">Add to that the Crocodile and Kangaroo that were part of the festivities, and it was quite a zoo!</p>
<div id="attachment_147" class="wp-caption alignright" style="width: 160px"><img src="http://lion-paws.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/2009-07-04-powell-play10-150x150.jpg" alt="Playtime After the Parade" title="Playtime After the Parade" width="150" height="150" class="size-thumbnail wp-image-147" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Playtime After the Parade</p></div>
<p align="left">After the parade, we went to the picnic area sponsored by the Powell Business and Professional Association. </p>
<p align="left">There were children&#8217;s games and food. Boy, the hot dogs and hamburgers looked yummy, but I didn&#8217;t want to chance getting ketchup or mustard in my fur.</p>
<div id="attachment_148" class="wp-caption alignright" style="width: 188px"><img src="http://lion-paws.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/2009-07-04-powell-people4-178x300.jpg" alt="Lion Laura Bailey of Knoxville Realty" title="Lion Laura Bailey of Knoxville Realty" width="178" height="300" class="size-medium wp-image-148" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Lion Laura Bailey of Knoxville Realty</p></div>
<p align="left">I met Laura Bailey, who is another Powell Lions Club member. She tried her best to get me to reveal my identity, but I held strong <img src='http://lion-paws.com/wordpress/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':-)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p align="left">Someone mentioned I should use a phone booth like Superman. Ha! But seriously, have you tried to find a pay phone these days?</p>
<p align="left">I sure did meet a lot of terrific people. Check out my <a href="http://lion-paws.com/wordpress/photos-videos/2009-07-04-powell-parade/">photo album from the 4th of July Parade and activities</a> or enjoy the slide show of all the photos below.</p>
<p align="left">I will include separate entries for my other Independence Day activities, so please stop back!</p>

<p align = "left">It was hot, hot, hot at the Secret City Festival! I was able to find the Oak Ridge Lions booth where I met Lions Joe Henderson and Jim Bailey selling mops, brooms, light-bulbs, and pecans. </p>
<p align = "left">Visit the <a href="http://www.oakridgelions.org">Oak Ridge Lions Club</a> web site!</p>
<p align = "left">I&#8217;m not much use in handling cash or lots of products with my paws, so the best I could do was help generate interest to the booth.</p>
<p align = "left">My sign was handy as I walked through the festival with Lion Joe.</p>
<p align = "left">However, I really need free paws for waving, high fives, and hugs, so Lion Joe ended up being the walking billboard for the booth while I had most of the fun! <img src='http://lion-paws.com/wordpress/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':-)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p align = "left">Lion Joe was also able to take some terrific photos that he shared with me. </p>
<p align = "left">Only a couple are on this post, so check out the <a href = "http://lion-paws.com/wordpress/photos-videos/2009-06-19-secret-city-festival-with-oak-ridge-lions/">entire Secret City Festival photo album here!</a></p>
<div id="attachment_70" class="wp-caption alignright" style="width: 160px"><img src="http://lion-paws.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/2009-06-19-secretcity-lionhunting2-150x150.jpg" alt="A Lion Hunting" title="A Lion Hunting" width="150" height="150" class="size-thumbnail wp-image-70" /><p class="wp-caption-text">A Lion Hunting</p></div>
<p align = "left">A nearby vendor had these cool hand-made guns and a shooting range right there at his booth! He offered to give me a running head start before hunting me; but what&#8217;s more interesting: going Lion hunting or a Lion going hunting? </p>
<p align = "left">Ha! Despite my limited visibility, I was still able to hit the target for 2 of 4 shots! All the big game hunters better look out for Lions&#8217; Revenge!</p>
<p align="left">Lions may be the &#8220;King of the Jungle&#8221; but the bald eagle is one of the most majestic creatures I&#8217;ve ever seen. I was definitely in awe, and Lion Joe captured the beauty of this bird magnificently!</p>
<div id="attachment_69" class="wp-caption alignright" style="width: 160px"><img src="http://lion-paws.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/2009-06-19-secretcity-eagle1-150x150.jpg" alt="Eagle from Reelfoot" title="Eagle from Reelfoot" width="150" height="150" class="size-thumbnail wp-image-69" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Eagle from Reelfoot</p></div>
<p align = "left">I&#8217;m sure there will be even more people mingling around the festival on Saturday, which is a great opportunity to raise awareness about Lionism. </p>
<p align = "left">But I&#8217;ve got other plans tomorrow. . . so much to do! I don&#8217;t know how many sales the Oak Ridge Lions Club was able to make, but definitely another fun outing for me! </p>
<p>Keeping Roaring!</p>
